Tawny Cypress Lawsuit: 'Heroes' Actress Being Sued By Ex-Husband

'Heroes' Actress Being Sued In Dramatic Turn of Events

Soap-opera writers, take note: This particular piece of celebrity drama seems like a plot straight out of your last episode.

"Heroes" actress Tawny Cypress, 36, is being sued by her ex-husband, who claims Cypress' current boyfriend attacked him back in June and -- get this -- that the actress is the one who prompted it, with assistance from their 12-year-old son. (Yes, you read that correctly.)

E! News has confirmed that ex-husband Bill Charles filed a lawsuit in New York claiming he was on his way to a Cheeburger Cheeburger restaurant in Brooklyn's Park Slope neighborhood when Tom Dillon, Cypress' beau, hit him on the head with a hard object and knocked him unconscious. Charles suffered a fractured nose and a concussion as a result. The couple's son Dexter reportedly was also present at the time of the incident.

In the suit, Charles says Cypress and Dillon proceeded to tell police a very different story: that Charles actually attacked Dexter. Charles, 58, spent six days in jail for the alleged assault.

"The relatively minor charges against my client are merely a distraction from the attempted murder that Thomas Dillon committed against my client," Charles' attorney Robert Feldman told the New York Post.

Feldman said Charles, who split with Cypress in 2004, has been unable to see Dexter for seven months. Charles is seeking more than $1 million in damages.

But Cypress' manager, Judith Lesley, refutes Charles' claims, saying new beau Dillon was not even present when the incident occurred.

"Apparently a good samaritan stepped in to stop a man from abusing a child," Lesley said. "Ms. Cypress and Mr. Dillon don't know that person but are very thankful he was there. They assume the police have the tapes and all relevant information. The attempts to drag Ms. Cypress and Mr. Dillon through the mud in the papers will be addressed in court."

Cypress has been largely out of work since leaving "Heroes" in 2007. She had a leading role on the short-lived FOX series "K-Love" and a four-episode arc on FX's "Rescue Me."
