Taylor Swift Talks Single Life And Relationship 'Red Flags'

Taylor Swift: 'I'm Ridiculously Stupid When I'm In Love'

Taylor Swift has made a career out of heartbreak. The 22-year-old may be older and wiser, but that doesn't mean she's about to stop pouring her heart out in her music.

"I think I am smart unless I am really, really in love and then I'm ridiculously stupid," she tells Vogue in their February cover story.

Swift has been linked to half of Hollywood dating boys like Joe Jonas and Taylor Lautner before upgrading to bigger players like John Mayer and Jake Gyllenhaal. Though she was most recently rumored to be dating Will Anderson from the band Parachute, she told Vogue she isn't dating anyone.

"I got nothing going on! I just don't really feel like dating. I have this great life right now and I'm not crying this Christmas, so I am really stoked about that," she explained, adding that she didn't want to go into the "sad story" of why she was brought to tears last Christmas.

Swift will admit however, that her next album will be about "earth-shattering, not recent, but absolute crash-and-burn heartbreak," as writing is the only way she says she can pull herself out of "that awful pain of losing someone."

Though her romantic missteps have become the basis for her music, she's identified a few "red flags" along the way, telling the magazine that eligible men looking to date the singer can't be threatened by the fact she needs security:

"If they make me feel like I am some sort of princessy diva -- that's a bad sign. I don't have security to make myself look cool, or like I have an entourage," she said. "I have security because there's a file of stalkers who want to take me home and chain me to a pipe in their basement."

On a similar note, Swift also said she doesn't want to be with someone who is obsessed with privacy. "People kind of care if there are two famous people dating. But no one cares that much. If you care about privacy to the point where we need to dig a tunnel under the restaurant so that we can leave. I can't do that."

It sounds like Swift is learning her lessons. In May, she told InStyle, "There are no rules when it comes to love ... I just try to let love surprise me because you never know who you are going to fall in love with."
