Taylor Swift, queen of pop and ultimate cat lady, is one of the hardest working people in entertainment, but even she knows when to step back and take some "me" time to relax and hang out with her BFFs.

"I've learned to work in a smarter way," Swift said in a new interview with Maxim, which named her No. 1 on its annual Hot List. "You have to have time to breathe and have a happy life, and friendships are so important to me."

Swift has been in the industry for 10 years and has commanded the charts for almost as long. Her record-breaking album "1989" sold over 3.5 million copies in 2014.

The megastar is currently on tour, playing around two or three stadium shows a week. "I'll see my friends in whichever city I'm closer to," she said in the Maxim interview, which appears in the magazine's June-July issue.

On Sunday, Swift picked up 8 wins at the Billboard Music Awards and released a star-studded music video for her new single, "Bad Blood."

A representative for Swift was not immediately available to comment.
