Tears For Fears 'The Hurting': Synth Pop Band's First Album Turns 30 (VIDEOS)

Tears For Fears' First Album Turns 30

It's been over three decades since Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith came together to form one of the greatest synth pop alliances we've ever known: Tears for Fears. Today that band, credited with new wave masterpieces like "Mad World" and "Change," is celebrating the 30th anniversary of their first record, "The Hurting."

That's right, your favorite concept album dedicated to personal suffering and primal scream therapy is turning 30.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, there are several things you could do. First, we recommend listening the 10-song LP while reminiscing about other significant events that took place in 1983 -- like the first flight of the Space Shuttle Challenger or the release of "Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi." Then you should probably follow up that listening party with the rest of the British band's discography, because who doesn't want to spend another hour humming along to "Songs From the Big Chair?" Finally, you should scroll through our slideshow of Tears for Fears' best performances below.

The list includes a mix of live shows from the 1980s to the present, so put on your old concert t-shirt and get ready for a TFF air guitar jam session. Don't forget to let us know how you are paying tribute to the great synthesizers in the comments.
