See The Emotional First Teaser For Cary Fukunaga's Netflix Film, 'Beasts Of No Nation'

This will definitely get Netflix a seat at the Oscars.

Cary Fukunaga may not be directing this season of "True Detective," unfortunately, but he's been hard at work with a new film for Netflix.

"Beasts of No Nation" is the first of many original films Netflix is releasing on the big screen, and on their streaming service, in the coming years. Written and directed by Fukunaga, "Beasts of No Nation" is based on Nigerian author Uzodinma Iweala's novel of the same name. The drama follows newcomer Abraham Attah's Agu, a young child soldier who is forced to join a group of rebel fighters after his family is torn apart by a civil war in West Africa. In the first teaser for the film, Idris Elba's warlord Commandant tells Abu to kill the man who murdered his father. The emotional teaser is reminiscent of the intense gang initiation scene from 2002's "City of God," and is a strong indication of some awards recognition for Netflix, and maybe even young Attah.

"Beasts of No Nation" will be released on Netflix and in select theaters on Oct. 16.
