Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) predicted victory for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2016 if the GOP chooses another nominee like Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) or former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
"We need to learn from history," Cruz said in an interview with CNBC on Thursday. "If Republicans run another candidate in the mold of a Bob Dole or a John McCain or a Mitt Romney... we will end up with the same result, which is millions of people will stay home on Election Day."
"If we run another candidate like that, Hillary Clinton will be the next president," Cruz continued.
Clinton has said she will make a decision on whether or not to run for president around Jan. 1. Cruz has also hinted he may run in 2016, but said "no decision has been made" in a September 29 Facebook post.
