Ted Koppel NOT Hosting "This Week"

Ted Koppel's a no-go for ABC's "This Week."

The former "Nightline" host's name had been discussed as a potential replacement for George Stephanopoulos on ABC's Sunday morning program, but Broadcasting & Cable's Marisa Guthrie reports that any talks between Koppel and the network are off.

One reason: ABC News believes Koppel himself was behind rumors that he'd be joining the program!

From B&C:

Sources say that ABC News President David Westin believed Koppel's camp had leaked reports of the talks. Westin was overheard complaining that it was a pattern that had made negotiations with Koppel difficult in 2005 when ABC News was in talks with him about re-formatting Nightline, the program he founded as a nightly update on the Iran hostage crisis.

Two weeks ago, Politico reported that ABC had offered Koppel the job hosting "This Week" three times a month, but ABC denied that report.
