Ted Nugent: Gun Owners Next Rosa Parks, Will Sit Down On 'Front Seat Of The Bus'

Controversial Rocker Compares Gun Owners To Rosa Parks

One of America's most controversial rockers upped the ante on his anti-gun control rhetoric this week, comparing American gun owners to Civil Rights icon Rosa Parks.

In an recent interview with conservative site WorldNetDaily, Ted Nugent, who's a board member of the National Rifle Association, said any attempts by President Barack Obama to enact gun control legislation would be met by defiance from gun owners.

"I do believe that the heroes of the law enforcement will defy this order," Nugent said. "I do believe that there are enough soulless sheep within our government who would act on such an illegal order but I believe the powers that be at the local, state, and regional law enforcement would halt such an illegal, anti-American order."

"There will come a time when the gun owners of America, the law-abiding gun owners of America, will be the Rosa Parks and we will sit down on the front seat of the bus, case closed," the Detroit singer continued.

Nugent's comments seemed to be prompted in part by Vice President Joe Biden claiming Obama may take executive action on the issue if Congress fails to act.

Biden will meet with the NRA at the White House on Thursday.

The comparison between the gun owner rights and Civil Rights has been used several times since the Obama administration announced it would be exploring gun control options last month.

Earlier this week, former NRA president Marion Hammer said Sen. Dianne Feinstein's (D-Calif.) proposed ban on assault weapons was akin to racial discrimination, Media Matters notes.

"Banning people and things because of the way they look went out a long time ago," Banning said. "But here they are again. The color of a gun. The way it looks. It's just bad politics."

Nugent has a history of making controversial anti-Obama statements. In 2007, he threatened Obama and then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in a expletive-laced tirade. "Obama, he's a piece of s**t. I told him to suck on my machine gun," he said.
