'Teen Wolf' Renewed: MTV Orders Third Season Of Hit Scripted Supernatural Show

MTV Renews 'Teen Wolf' For Season 3

"Teen Wolf" fans, here's something to howl at: MTV announced today at Comic-Con that they've renewed the hit scripted supernatural show for a third season, doubling the episode order to 24.

The Season 3 pick-up for "Teen Wolf" is something of a sign that MTV -- which has always been more in the reality TV business -- has put a bigger focus on scripted series. This is the first time that a primetime scripted series has gotten a third season pick-up on the network, and it's the largest episode order they've ever made for a scripted show.

“‘Teen Wolf’ represents a terrific foray into the scripted world for the millennial MTV audience, and marks tremendous success in the continued diversification of our schedule,” David Janollari, Head of MTV Programming, said in a press release. “Renewing the show for a third season celebrates the creative vision of Executive Producer Jeff Davis and the remarkable talent of the cast who bring this bona fide fan favorite to life.”

“Teen Wolf” currently draws 1.8 million total viewers each week, and has consistently won its timeslot in the 12-34 demo since the series premiere.

With both "Teen Wolf" and comedy "Awkward" currently doing very well for them, MTV is launching another comedy, “The Inbetweeners” (premieres Mon., Aug. 20, 10:30 p.m. ET), and another dramedy, “Underemployed" (premieres this fall) to add to their slate of scripted series.
