Janeane Garofalo, Marc Maron & More In Upcoming 'Tell Your Friends' Concert Film (VIDEO)

If you're a fan of comedy you've probably heard the phrase "alternative comedy" thrown around, but maybe you've never known exactly what that's supposed to mean. Good news: you're not alone.

The who, what and why of alternative comedy is the subject of "Tell Your Friends," a new documentary and concert film by comedians Liam McEneaney and Victor Varnado. Featuring performances by Christian Finnegan, Kurt Braunohler & Kristen Schaal, Leo Allen, Rob Paravonian and Reggie Watts, the film is a behind-the-scenes look at how comedians have found success by making their own rules, shows and scene. It includes interviews with the likes of Janeane Garofalo, Marc Maron, Colin Quinn and Jim Gaffigan, who have used and, in many cases, continue to use the alternative scene as a place to work out new material.

The first trailer has just been released, and it's got us stoked to see the whole thing.
