Tempura Recipes That Prove Frying Food Is Always A Good Idea

At this point, you've probably encountered a tempura-fried shrimp. You may have even enjoyed a crispy slab of tempura sweet potato, zucchini or Japanese pumpkin. These tempura recipes are classic preparations that stand the test of time. Now that that's settled, let's talk about what else you can fry tempura-style: anything you can get batter to stick to.

It's come to our attention that not a lot of you are making tempura at home. We sort of understand why. The batter, which sometimes seems mythically light, can be intimidating (the secret is seltzer!). Not to mention most home cooks' hesitation to deep-fry at home. It's definitely not the quickest or most convenient cooking technique to experiment with at home, but man, it is fun.
