"It gets more than better -- it gets amazing and astounding!"

That's just one of the many poignant lines -- not to the overriding message -- of "Testimony," which is already being hailed as the "It Gets Better" anthem. Penned by Broadway composer Stephen Schwartz ("Wicked," "Godspell"), the song has become an Internet hit, thanks to a video performance by the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus (SFGMC) which has gone viral.

When it was suggested he compose an original song for SFGMC, Schwartz said he quickly became inspired by Dan Savage's "It Gets Better" project aimed at lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth. "It's very, very necessary, and one of those simple but incredibly effective ideas just waiting for somebody to have it," he told HuffPost blogger Pollo Del Mar. "And, of course, [Dan] would be the one to have it!" Schwartz says.

As the San Jose Mercury News reported, SFGMC performed the number during "Enchantingly Wicked," a concert of Schwartz's work, at San Francisco's Davies Symphony Hall on March 20-21. The video has since drawn over 22,000 views on YouTube.
