Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) defeated Democrat David Alameel in the midterm elections on Tuesday.
Cornyn, the Senate Minority Whip, was first elected in 2002. Before serving in the Senate, he was Texas Attorney General and served on the Texas Supreme Court and as a Bexar County district court judge.
