That Time Margot Robbie Punched Alexander Skarsgård During Their 'Tarzan' Sex Scene

Margot Robbie is anything but your typical damsel in distress.

The Australian actress, who plays Jane in the upcoming "The Legend of Tarzan," brought confidence to her role, which was exactly what the story needed.

"It was very important that we didn’t want it to feel archaic or dated, where it’s like, tough guy has to save the poor girl," Robbie's co-star Alexander Skarsgård told Entertainment Weekly. "You have to feel that she’s strong and independent, and when you cast Margot, you’ll definitely get that."

Robbie was so strong, in fact, that she gave Skarsgård the sole bruise he got during shooting. It all happened during what sounds like one steamy love scene.

"They’re doing this love scene together, and I said [to Robbie], ‘Just slap Alex while you’re making love, just kind of give him a punch,'" director David Yates explained to EW. "It was sort of an earthy, sensual moment of her enjoying sex with Alex, and the only bruise he picked up during the entire shoot was probably that punch from Margot. Which says a lot about her feistiness."

Robbie herself opened up about playing a more independent Jane during an interview with Red Carpet News back in 2014.

"She's not so reliant on Tarzan," the actress said. "I kind of like the stronger female characters and she's definitely a strong character. Very intelligent and fun."
