All over America, every single day, there are people working hard to better the lives of others and make a positive difference in the world. Many of us know someone like this. From an organization in the Twin Cities that provides services for thousands of individuals experiencing homelessness — to a team of caregivers in Honolulu, Hawaii, working to make elderly people feel less alone toward the end of their lives, these people identify the toughest challenges in their communities and use their resources to solve them. They take personal, often tragic, experiences that have shaped or changed them, and work to improve circumstances for others in similar situations.
