'The American Bible Challenge' Premiere: Host Jeff Foxworthy Explores Scripture Through Game Show (VIDEO)

'The American Bible Challenge': Jeff Foxworthy Hosts Bible Game Show

Newsday wondered why it took so long for this format to make its way to television, but its here now. GSN premiered their new game show, "The American Bible Challenge" (Thu., 9 p.m. ET), which is about a self-explanatory as a title can be.

Jeff Foxworthy was on board as host, taking contestants through rounds that had them exploring the Bible in different ways. In this premiere, that meant at one point identifying if a quote was from the Bible or "The Lord of the Rings."

In another twist, "Faithbook" created fake Facebook status updates from various Biblical people, leaving the contestants to identify whose status update it was.

The Washington Post wasn't all that impressed, calling the game show "as dull as it sounds." They wrote that it made them think of "mandatory fun time at Sunday school."

Tune in for "The American Bible Challenge" every Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on GSN.
