'The Bachelor' San Francisco: Local Episode Features Dizzying Bay Bridge Climb (VIDEO)

WATCH: A Dizzying Bay Bridge Climb

On Monday's episode of 'The Bachelor,' local heartthrob Ben Flajnik took his harem of ladies on a tour of his hometown San Francisco.

The episode certainly showed off the city, leading one contestant to gush "I can see why San Francisco is everyone's favorite city." And while a cable car ride through Chinatown made us wince at the predictability, the episode also offered some unexpected surprises: a dinner at Bourbon and Branch, a manmade ski run down a city street (which, btw, is not a first, Ben) and the icing on the cake: a climb to the top of the Bay Bridge.

In an effort to help her overcome a fear of heights, Ben took contestant Emily on a Caltrans climb to the highest point of the extension bridge. For those familiar with the bridge, a climb up the 535-foot spire (which doesn't account for the distance from the bridge to the water) is an interesting method to overcome a fear of heights. (Braving the s-curve is daring enough for most of us.)

But the end result was worth the primetime drama. Once Ben and Emily reached the top, viewers got a stunning panoramic view of the bay on a sky blue afternoon.
