Labor Day has come and gone leaving many of us thinking about the new school year, getting back to work and maybe even the holiday season. Before you leave summer completely behind, consider going to the beach in September. It's one of the best times to go.

Why choose the beach in September? There are a number of reasons including...
  • The weather is still mild and sunny.
  • The ocean is as warm as it will be all year due to heating from the summer sun.
  • Prices are lower.
  • Everything is less crowded.

Frankly, most any beach destination in the northern hemisphere fits these criteria -- which is why September's my favorite month to travel -- but northern New England's beaches continue to be one of my favorite places for a quick fall getaway.
