There's a lot of talk about which Thanksgiving side deserves the most amount of real estate on your plate. Do mashed potatoes beat stuffing? Is cranberry sauce the actual unsuspecting favorite? This year we decided to stop wondering and get to the bottom of which side dish is the real darling on the big day. We polled, and the people spoke. Here's what your friends and family really want to see at your Thanksgiving spread.
What do you do with this information? Double up your stuffing efforts -- big time. Don't be shy with the mashed potatoes. (Even if they don't all get eaten, there are amazing things you can make out of leftover mashed potatoes.) And, don't ever underestimate sweet potato casserole again. Ever. Everything else? Do as you wish. Just don't forget the pie.
The HuffPost/YouGov poll consisted of 1,000 completed interviews conducted Nov. 13-16 among U.S. adults, using a sample selected from YouGov's opt-in online panel to match the demographics and other characteristics of the adult U.S. population.

Most surveys report a margin of error that represents some, but not all, potential survey errors. YouGov's reports include a model-based margin of error, which rests on a specific set of statistical assumptions about the selected sample, rather than the standard methodology for random probability sampling.
