There is no better way to thank a veteran for their service than to help them make the transition from the military to a civilian society. While they appreciate the “Thanks”, they are more interested in contributing to society and continuing to serve albeit a likely civilian team.

Each year, my firm hosts the Thank You for Your Service Virtual Career Fair to connect transitioning service members, veterans, and spouses with a wide range of companies who are committed to hiring them. Rather than asking the veteran to travel to a job fair, we bring the job fair to them. From the comfort of home (or wherever they may be located), they can visit company booths, chat with recruiters, view/aply for jobs, and chat with fellow veterans in a fully-interactive virtual environment.

This year the virtual career fair is set for November 10 from 1-4 EST and includes the following companies: Accenture,ADM, Aetna, Ameriprise Financial, Avaya, BAE Systems, Bayer, Comerica Bank, Covanta, Exelon, First Data, GSK, IBM, Johnson Controls, JPMorgan Chase, Oakwood Worldwide, Nestle, Penske Logistics, Pfizer, Title Resource Group, Travelers, TSA, Verizon, Waste Management, Wells Fargo, and Western & Southern Life

So I ask all the recruiters, hiring managers, and business owners who may see this, to consider hiring a veteran to show your appreciation for their service. not because we owe it to them, but because we owe it to our business to add the most qualified candidates.

Veterans who may be seeking a career change can register for the virtual career fairs at www.veteranrecruiting.com
