'The Breakfast Club' Airs Audio Of Floyd Mayweather Reading Promotional Drop (LISTEN)

Radio Show Publicly Blasts Floyd Mayweather

What started as a $750,000 challenge from rapper 50 Cent to Floyd Mayweather for the boxing champ to read one full page of a Harry Potter book out loud, has now escalated to public humiliation courtesy of Power 105’s “The Breakfast Club.”

On Friday, the hosts of the New York-based morning show Charlamagne, DJ Envy, and Angela Yee dug into their radio station’s archives to find unedited audio of Mayweather reading a promotional “drop” for Power 105. Despite reservations about running the clip, Charlamagne defended the station's decision.

“I got nothing but respect for Floyd Mayweather. He’s the greatest defensive fighter of all time, but I got a show to do," he said. "I gotta sell tickets too, baby. Just like he likes to put on a show, I like to put on a show to. This is for our listeners' benefit.”

While some listeners may have found the audio entertaining, others felt differently. HuffPost Live's very own, Marc Lamont Hill tweeted criticism over the station's attempt to publicly shame Mayweather.

Calls to Mayweather and the station's representatives were not returned at the time this post was published.
