Helpful Hints: Breastfeeding and Preventing Breast Cancer

Fact: Black women have the highest breast cancer death rates of all racial and ethnic groups. They are also 40% more likely to die of breast cancer than white women.

Tip:
  1. Keeping a healthy weight
  2. Exercising regularly
  3. Limit alcohol consumption
  4. Don't smoke, if you do try to quit
  5. Breastfeed your babies!

Benefit: Breastfeeding means less risk of breast cancer for mothers and their daughters.

Myth: Breastfeeding deprives your mate and other friends and family of their chance to bond with the baby.
