The Chainsmokers Sing Nickelback Mashup To Remind You They Can Take A Joke

When you compare The Chainsmokers to Nickelback, you have to expect there will be some sort of repercussion.

Luckily, this one was in the form of a mashup.

Earlier this week, Esquire published a piece that compared the EDM duo’s music to that of Nickelback’s, a highly contentious rock band that has given the world classics like “Photograph” and “Someday.”

The piece is fairly scathing and includes biting lines like this:

Nickelback became the perfect scapegoat for the downfall of early 2000s cock-rock. The Chainsmokers are poised to do the same with their pop-focused lite-EDM.

Naturally, this encouraged Drew Taggart, one half of the duo, to break out his best Chad Kroeger impression.

In a tweet posted Tuesday evening, The Chainsmokers uploaded a mashup of their song “Paris” with Nickelback’s “How You Remind Me.” The result is ... truly something.

We can only hope there are more mashups to come, because this one was truly a treat.
