'The Closer': Gabriel Finds Out He Was Unknowingly The Leak In The Major Crimes Divison (VIDEO)

'The Closer' Reveals The Department Leak

It was a reveal a year in the making, and one done with a twist on the penultimate episode of "The Closer" (Mon., 9 p.m. ET on TNT). Gabriel was revealed as the informant, but he was just as stunned as the rest of the team that the information was coming from him.

That's because it was his girlfriend Ann who was the true leak. In fact, her entire relationship with him had been orchestrated solely so she could get information. And when Gabriel disagreed with how things played out during the Terrell Baylor case, he went home and vented to the woman he loved and who he thought genuinely loved him back.

Despite his lack of malice in his role, several of the team wanted him to either transfer or simply resign. Gabriel tried to do the latter, but Brenda wasn't having it.

"You were upset that day. I knew you were upset, but I didn’t listen," she said in an emotional scene. "I can’t let you quit over this. I accept your apology, and I hope you’ll accept mine. I need you here."

She may need him there, but what about her? Next week is "The Closer" series finale at 9 p.m. ET on TNT as Brenda says goodbye. It's followed immediately by the premiere of its spinoff "Major Crimes," featuring virtually the entire cast except for Kyra Sedgwick.
