Vivacious, vibrant and versatile; Colombia is a pulsating hub of activity, excitement and wonder in South America. There is a rich and ancient history here; there are rhythms, traditions, festivals and cultures; there are jungles, volcanoes, mountains, mines and valleys. From the crumbling walls of colonial cities, to the carnivals that are held across the breadth of the country; from the beaches facing both the Pacific and the Caribbean oceans, to the diversity of wildlife that spills out across these lands - all of these things are bold, bright and beautiful. There is color here, a spectacular amount of color. Let us show you just a fraction of it...

Carnivals
There are a lot of places one can go to experience the vivid colors of the Colombian landmass, but if you want to see them all at once and fully immerse yourself in the cultures and traditions whilst you’re at it, head to a carnival. The carnivals of Colombia are life personified; rhythmic music, grand parades, costumes and masks bring entire communities (and travelers the world over) together for revelry that lasts for days at a time. Carnaval de Barranquilla and Carnaval de Negros y Blancos in particular are known for their grand parades that feature costumes, masks and floats of every color.
Amazonia
The Amazonia region of Colombia constitutes 35% of Colombia’s total territory; that is a staggering amount of tropical rainforest and jungle, or if you’re thinking in terms of colors, a staggering amount of deep greenery. Simply put, the Amazon rainforest is one of the natural wonders of the world and drifting down one of its rivers, or hiking across the forest floor is a once in a lifetime experience. It’s not just the rich and varied greens of the jungle that will dazzle however, as the wildlife that calls these forests home (especially the birds) provide a literal rainbow of colors.
Beaches
Due to its location on the northern tip of South America, Colombia boasts shores and coastlines that face out to both the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. Colombia lays claim to over 300, paradisaical beaches. Looking for a suggestion? Then Punta Gallinas, with its golden sands and diamond blue waters, is a good spot to soak in the colors of Colombia. It also happens to be the northern-most point on the mainland of South America; a good place to finish any continental trip you might be planning…
Colorful Cities
The lands of Colombia are steeped in rich, far-reaching history – from the stories and crafts of pre-Colombian indigenous peoples, to untouched communities deep in its Amazon region, to the Spanish colonial period and the subsequent liberation. It will come as no surprise then, to know that the buildings, walls, forts and monuments found in various cities across the land reflect different styles, eras and cultures. It is the colorful and distinctive Spanish colonial architecture found in Cartagena de Indias, along with the crumbling walls of its Old Town, which stand out for us in particular. Blues, yellows, reds, greens and oranges collide together in both historic and residential buildings. El Dorado may (or may not be) a city of gold, but Cartagena de Indias is a city that plays host to a veritable feast of colors.
