While the technology for content creation and distribution levels the playing field for many content creators, making compelling content is essential for success in the new media landscape, says Dermot McCormack, EVP of Digital Media for MTV Music and Logo Group.

At the recent Beet.TV Video Strategy Summit at Bloomberg, he told the audience that despite all the new technology and power of social media, "Snooki is Snooki," referring to the star power of a cast member of the highly rated MTV show "Jersey Shore."
