Which will win?

The Future Obituary of Rebecca Mckown as Things are Today

Rebecca Mckown, age unknown, transitioned back to her infinite self a short while ago.

Rebecca was born in 1974 into a family she adored. She was a quiet and introspective child always looking deep within others trying to figure out the mysteries of life. She was one of 5 children, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Rebecca grew up in a house with loving parents whom she too loved unconditionally.

Rebecca grew up in Virginia where she spent most of her life except for an under a year stint in NYC, where she lived courageously and independently. She was always so proud of her experience there. She worked for the MoMA, rode the subway everyday (on her own), met new people, walked the crowded streets with confidence and speed. After her brief stay in NYC, Rebecca started to feel suffocated by the crowds and fast life. She then went back to Virginia where she spent the remainder of her life. Leaving and never going back was always a regret Rebecca held on to.

Rebecca moved back to her place of birth with her husband by her side. Together they found their groove in the capital Richmond. At the age of 27 Rebecca's life changed in ways she couldn't imagine. Here is when she birthed the first of 3 children and here is where she truly felt her life began. In her experience of motherhood Rebecca found a calling that would forever evolve into new and transformational experiences. Rebecca is still survived by her 3 loves, Eli, Lulu and Luce.

Rebecca was a spiritual person who was always searching for connection and a direction to move into new and exciting directions. Unfortunately Rebecca didn't get to realize many of her dreams because she forgot the main step, which is taking risks and letting go of fear. She spent her years waiting for the answers to come to her, for her questions to be answered and for someone to take her hand lead the way.

Although Rebecca was often lost in her dreams, she was full of love for the world and dreamed that one day the world would become One.

She was one of 5 children, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Rebecca grew up in a house with loving parents whom she too loved unconditionally.

Rebecca grew up in Virginia. After graduating from University with a Fine Arts Degree, Rebecca moved to NYC with her husband and dog Clifford. Here she lived courageously and independently. She was always so proud of this experience. She worked for the MoMA, rode the subway everyday (on her own), met new people, walked the crowded streets with confidence and speed. She also travelled to many other locations where she would meet thousands of people and share her love.

In her late 20's, Rebecca's life changed in the most amazing and life changing way, she become a mother to 3 children. It was through them that she learned the most about herself, life and love. Rebecca is still survived by her 3 loves, Eli, Lulu and Luce.

And the winner is..?

To be determined...

These obituaries are not real and serves only as an exerciseinf finding and realizing one's dreams, desires and passions.

If you would like to try this exercise, I strongly recommend it. The technique is quite simple. Write one obituary as your life is today, on the trajectory you are on and see how it goes. The second obit will be written from the perspective of all your dreams and desires being realized.

What would it look like?

What would you have done?

What's your dream life?

Then compare and contrast and ask yourself which of your obituaries you would like to see manifest. It may seem a bit morbid but really it is just a great exercise to get your life moving to the destination you most dream for yourself.

What would it look like?

Then if you feel inclined, share with me at rebmckown@rebmckown.com. Also if you know of anyone who may benefit from this post or exercise don't hesitate to share this with them.

Love to you,

Rebecca
