What if you knew of something that was more awe-inspiring than the Great Wall of China, more gravity-defying than the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and more majestic than the Coliseum. And imagine while you were taking in this overwhelming beauty, you were also burning calories, feeling good, looking better, reducing migraine pain, increasing your feelings of well-being, increasing your pain threshold, improving your sleep, stimulating your immune system AND lowering your stress level. And what if this magical, beautiful experience was something that the average woman in a committed relationship is already doing? The good news is you can grab this magical thing and enjoy it whenever you want. Drum roll please--sex.

Even as a vagipreneur, a person in the business of female sexual health, I have to admit, I understand if you are skeptical at first. And you don't have to believe me; lots of important scientists, doctors and studies say it too.

Just ask Barry R. Komisaruk, Ph.D Distinguished Professor, Rutgers University, Psychology Department. "Orgasm can block pain...We've found that vaginal stimulation can block chronic back and leg pain, and many women have told us that genital self-stimulation can reduce menstrual cramps, arthritic pain, and in some cases even headache.''

And it doesn't just help a little. Renowned sexual health expert and trained nurse, Beverly Whipple, credited with "finding" the G-spot, even put some dimensions around the pain improvement. According to a study she conducted, when women have an orgasm, pain tolerance threshold and pain detection threshold increases significantly, by up to 74.6 percent and 106.7 percent respectively. Listen, I was on board when it just felt good. The pain reduction part is just icing on the cake.

Still need more convincing--read on.

Sex improves your brain. No joke. This finding didn't come from some no name strip mall university, but from none other than the prestigious Princeton University.

Sex helps you live longer. According to a study by Duke, women who report satisfying sex lives can live 7 to 8 years longer than those who are generally disinterested in their sex lives.

Sex is good exercise. Just trade 30 minutes on the treadmill for a half hour of sex according to a study by the University of Quebec in Canada. I have to admit that I have always been a bit skeptical about this one. But it sure can't hurt to try. I hate the treadmill anyway.

Sex keeps you healthy. During a study at Wilkes-Barre University, the students who had the most sex had the highest levels of immunoglobulin A (IgA), which protects the body from common colds and flu.

Don't get me wrong. You should probably still eat well, exercise regularly, drink lots of water, take vitamins supplements--and whatever health- enhancing activities you think are important. But in my opinion, sex is just the gift that keeps on giving. Don't knock it until you try it--over and over and maybe even over, again.
