One of my favourite parts of being an entrepreneur is having eye-opening blow out conversations every 2-3 weeks for the past 4 years with one of my entrepreneurial besties, artist and blogger, Keli-Ann Pye-Beshara. Every time it happens we say to ourselves, 'We really should have camera's rolling on us... this stuff is epic!'

During our last conversation, I read her an email I had written to a client (without reference to the clients name or business of course). It was a necessary proverbial smackdown as my hard-working client was stuck in a 'poor me' moment. I have had this exact conversation with myself many times over the years when it is time for me to 'go to the next level'. While reading the email to Keli-Ann, I realized I needed to hear those words again as much as my client did. I love how the universe brings us everything we need in the funniest of ways.

I had to share this because every entrepreneur needs to hear the truth when they get 'stuck' in their business. It happens to almost all of us at some point in time. And, when you are in a business where 'YOU' are the brand, like myself, my client and Keli-Ann are, you need to read this on a fairly regular basis to stay in check and avoid the slump.

By the way, I'm happy to say my client thanked me for this candid no-bull-shit-no-excuses conversation/email:

Honestly [insert your name here], I think at this point in time you need to say, 'FUCK THIS SHIT' and get on with it. Stop playing small. Stop complaining. Stop wondering what's wrong and get on with making things better.

You keep getting no's because you are in victim mode.

You need to be the leader of your company. You need to just decide to be better. To ask more from yourself. To not let a 'no' get in the way of your dreams. Your dreams are so much more than that.

If you truly owned your worth around your business, you would be shouting it from the rooftops... not hiding and complaining because one person didn't think it was worth it.

After all this time, you don't need to do more inner work. You have to buck up and DECIDE it's YOUR time!

No more bull shit. No more games. It's business time. It's time to play in the big leagues.

Every company on the planet has more people saying "No" to them than "Yes". EVERY company. You won't get every customer and that's it. Enough [insert your name here]. Really. Get over it. You're letting your ego take over. It's time to stop now.

You're better than that and you know the difference now. So there really is no excuse.

Every time you say, "Why isn't this working?", you go into victim mode. And that means you are going to get something from playing the victim. It isn't about what your business can do for you, it's about what you can do for your business!

You have everything you need to be the leader of your company and run it like you've never ran it before. You can get results like you've never gotten before. But you've got to DECIDE it's time and that you are going to STOP being a victim of your business and instead be the HERO who makes it happen.

Sent with much love,
Jennifer

Phew, just reading through this gives me the shivers. There's truth for you (and me). If you don't have what you want, it is because you are stopping yourself. Not because you aren't capable. You are fully capable.

Now you have had your JT smackdown for the day (as Keli-Ann would say). Read this to yourself and to your entrepreneurial bestie whenever you and they need it. Carry on, my friend, carry on.
