A study from the National Institutes of Health explains why women need more sleep than men. Among women, the study found overall poor sleep quality, more frequent problems falling asleep, and longer periods of time to fall asleep. Doctors linked those issues with greater psychological distress and higher fasting insulin, fibrinogen, and inflammation.
