'The First Cycle': Borre Akkersdijk's Stop-Motion Robots Make A Jacket (VIDEO)

Tiny Robots Make A Tiny Jacket

This wonderful little stop-motion film calls to mind the elaborate wake-up device in "Wallace & Gromit in The Wrong Trousers" or the "Edward Scissorhands" cookie factory. In "The First Cycle," delicate robot bits work together to make a jacket out of rainbow yarn.

The film, made by animator Niels Hoebers, was created to kick off a fashion show by Paris-based Dutch designer Borre Akkersdijk. On his Web site, Akkersdijk describes the show -- also called "The First Cycle" -- as the story of clothing from yarn to the runway. We'd call it more a prophesy, and we're mighty excited for these robot designers of the future.
