'The Glee Project': Aylin Gets Emotional In Muslim Headscarf, Two Contenders Booted Before Finale (VIDEO)

'The Glee Project': Shock Elimination Cuts Two Before Finale

Having to don a traditional Muslim headscarf as part of the "Actability" theme drew out real emotions on "The Glee Project" (Tue., 10 p.m. ET on Oxygen) for contestant Aylin. She said she'd been fighting against those stereotypes for Turkish Muslims her entire life.

But she was able to draw on that raw emotion for her performance in the week's video shoot. Rather than a traditional video, the cast were tasked to create improv scenes following basic character backgrounds. The end result was a movie trailer. Aylin's character was from a conservative Muslim family, like Aylin. But she didn't live her life that way and wound up pregnant by the high school quarterback.

Aylin was able to convey her emotions well enough to earn her a spot in next week's finale after each of the five remaining contenders had to perform for Ryan Murphy and six writers from "Glee."

And then Murphy decided they needn't cut only one contestant. Why not just trim it to however many of them genuinely inspire the writers? And so, they chose to cut both Michael -- who'd won the homework assignment that week -- and Lily. That leaves Blake, Ali and Aylin going for that seven-episode guest stint on "Glee" Season 4.

"The Glee Project" wraps its second season next Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET on Oxygen.
