"The Goldbergs" is funny -- let's say that first -- but while ABC's new '80s-set comedy mines a lot of its humor from nostalgia over one of the tackiest decades ever, the real laughs come from the realization that the Goldbergs are completely insane, not unlike your own family.
No matter how "normal" you think you are, everyone's got a little crazy in them. The family in "The Goldbergs" (based on creator Adam Goldberg's real family) just doesn't care about hiding it. It's cringe-inducing at times, but mostly just because it's familiar on some level.
HuffPost TV sat down with stars Jeff Garlin and Wendi McLendon-Covey, who play Murray and Beverly Goldberg, and it was immediately clear that they've both embraced the neuroses and quirks of their TV alter-egos.
