'The Good Wife' Recap: America Ferrera Returns In 'The Next Month'

"The Next Month" wasn't my favorite episode, but there were quite a few redeeming aspects, one of them being the storyline for Robyn (Jess Weixler). Plus, there was Eli (Alan Cumming) reuniting with Natalie (America Ferrera) and comedic hijinks.

The main case was brought in by Natalie. An undocumented immigrant faced deportation unless he testified against a gang cartel. He got the visa, but then the defendant fled the country in order to force the "snitch" back to Mexico to be taken care of. It was a race against time and that's where "The Good Wife" always shines. However, there may have been a few too many stories packed in this episode that hindered the show from really taking off.

Natalie's return also affected Eli. The two haven't seen each other since Season 2 and never really full acknowledged the connection. That all changed tonight! After many awkwardly sweet encounters -- including two Eli running scenes -- they had dinner and a kiss. Natalie's return raised a few eyebrows for Marilyn (Melissa George), who is very pregnant and kooky. Marilyn noticed how much Natalie affected Eli and flagged it, which was going to miss up their rendezvous, but Eli caved.

Robyn to the rescue! Praise "The Good Wife" writers for giving Robyn a storyline. After hearing she was going to be laid off, Robyn went to Kalinda to try and get her job back. That's not going to happen, but Kalinda gave Robyn advice and the plucky investigator took it to heart. Robyn saved the day for Florrick/Agos without the help of her Batman by getting the undocumented immigrant turned away by Mexico. The scene between her and Kalinda was great and it sure made me miss Kalinda doing more than handing papers to Will or Diane.

"Do we have a Yoko Ono problem?" Yes, David Something, the jack-o'-lantern man, you do have a problem. I'm just waiting for this Isabelle thing with Will to blow up. It's very strange to me. But Will certainly has a new lease on life. Lockhart/Gardner -- sorry, LG -- will be opening in New York soon. Spinoff alert?

Speaking of changes, Florrick/Agos & Associates got offices and they are ultra hip. Alicia even has a chair!

You could tell something is building, and the addition of Jason O'Mara could be the fuse to ignite even more drama.

Gasp count: 0.

Some other things:
"Have you noticed that everyone's changing?" - Cary
"Yeah." - Alicia

One of the best things about "The Good Wife" has been watching how all these characters, specifically Alicia, have changed over the years.

"I think you're going to take over the world from here." - Peter to Alicia. Foreshadowing? I think so.

This episode needed more Diane.

"The Good Wife" airs Sundays, 9 p.m. EST on CBS.
