Sadly, catcalling is always topical. And just as frequently as some jerk catcalls you on the street, someone else will come to his defense and say it's "a compliment."
But, catcalling is literally insane. Firstly, the idea that anyone wants an unsolicited, aggressive opinion about their body is an anomaly. Secondly, yeah, we get it, you want to have sex. Cool. A lot of people do. But that the sheer desire for sex could motivate aggressors enough to defend catcalling as complimentary, and let them excuse themselves from making people feel scared and unsafe, and let them still somehow potentially come out as being "nice guys" is horrifying. (Hey all, I know this is a comedy blog, and promise comedy will happen in a second.)
My sketch, "Inconvenienced Catcaller" was inspired by a time I heard someone catcalling me. When I turned around, I saw that the catcaller was behind the counter at a bodega more than two blocks away. He was literally screaming over a two-block radius, inside his own store, just to harass me. I couldn't believe he was going through that great of an effort simply to be an ass. I made this sketch about a catcaller that will push through anything to get in that sweet, sweet catcall.
Remember bros: it doesn't matter if you help a puppy, because if you still harass women, you're a douchebag.
