In the newest episode of my ongoing radio show, I review Mister Rogers and Me, a documentary from filmmaker Benjamin Wagner with a somewhat deceptive title. Yes, it starts off with a personal memory about children's broadcaster Fred Rogers, but then goes further afield as Wagner travels the country to interview people whose lives had been touched by Rogers, including a Christian journalist, a Buddhist minister, Arthur author Marc Brown, and Tim Russert. What Wagner discovers is that the warm, empathetic person seen on the TV was not just an act, nor was his constant advocacy for us to look for the best in ourselves.
