I stayed at the Margaritaville Hotel, which is built on the top of the Village Shops on The Island. Where do I start? Who knew this contemporary and elegant hotel would be in in the middle of the Smoky Mountains. The hotel was truly above my expectations from the staff who went above and beyond to ensure my stay was everything I imagined and more to the big open floor plans of the room. I always get a room with 2 beds so I can put my junk on one bed and sleep in the other. There are only 132 rooms on the property including 3 suites and all of the rooms come equipped with fireplaces, flat screen tv's, stainless steel microwave and refrigerator, along with your very own margarita machine!! Did I say every room has it's own margarita machine? I can't forget to mention the sleek contemporary bathroom with a spacious walk-in shower with dual "rain shower heads. Margaritaville Hotel is truly an oasis right in the middle of the Smoky Mountains.
The shops are fun to go through and are of a great variety. T-shirt shops, purses, a Five and Dime Store, Build a Bear, Jewelry, Moonshine and the list goes on. There are also some great places to eat, The Mellow Mushroom makes great pizza, the Timberwood Grill has wonderful food, Paula Deen's restaurant is very good but a bit expensive. There is also a German Braut eatery where the brats are really good.
Located in the center of the Island, this beautiful and stunning fountain is a sight worth seeing so gather up what energy you have left after a long day of exploring Pigeon Forge and sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. The fountain has over 90 water shoots; 89 of these shoots go vertically while 6 rotate to form quite the spectacle. The fountain also has two levels; the upper level flows down into the lower level over a bed of stones that acts like a mini waterfall.
The water show was a scene I was not able to look away from and it seemed to relax me and me forget my feet were hurting from a long day of sightseeing. The water shoots and colors have been synced musically with 14 different songs which allowed me to relax and do what I love most which are people watch. I sat in one of the chairs for over an hour and just watched couples, children, and college age students who were on break laughing and enjoying themselves. There is a show every 30 minutes from 10 am to 11:30 pm. In between the shows, the fountains shoot up and down over and over; it’s a sight that will put you in a trance. The fountain at the Island is the perfect way to unwind.
As a travel blogger, I have traveled all over the world and I've had massages in some of the most beautiful places in the world from Italy to Costa Rica and I am shocked to say the best massage I've ever had is right in Pigeon Forge, TN at St. Somewhere Spa on The Island. Pam was my massage therapist and she is absolutely amazing with her craft. I decided to have the 90 min massage which included the Hot Stone Massage. St. Somewhere Spa offers custom spa experience for to meet your needs including the Volcano Hot Stone Massage, intimate Couples Massage, Tranquil Facial, Lost Shaker of Salt Glow or their Signature Key Lime Margarita Spa Manicure and Pedicure.
Before I decided on "Exploring Margaritaville" in Pigeon Forge, TN I looked at a few other properties to compare pricing, activities, restaurants, etc. What stood out to me the most was the contemporary decor right in the middle of the Smokey's, the fountain which is no cost to you, the rides and activities that are very minimally priced there wasn't a price comparison. How many places can you just walk out of your room and enjoy rides, restaurants, activities for the kiddos, and a spa all within walking distance? I can tell you there are NONE! Another plus for me was free parking at The Island which in itself is a cost saving. If you’re looking for something fun to do with the family that doesn’t cost anything, walking around The Island is a nice relaxing time with lots of neat things to see, and won’t cost you a dime.
The Island is your one stop shop in Pigeon Forge for family fun, shopping, or just relaxing!
