The "Dark Kingdom of Hateland" is ruled by Congressmen Peter King (R-NY) and Steve King (R- IA). These xenophobic politicians, if allowed, will soon turn our American homeland into a country void of the constitutional protections and civil rights for which many of our soldiers, patriots, and civil libertarian martyrs paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Congressman Peter King has a long history of bashing the American Muslim community. His extensive record of howling destructive rhetoric and Islamophobic remarks has fueled a campaign stereotyping nearly 8 million American Muslims and contributed to his agenda of inspiring hate and fear in the hope of marginalizing this community from our exemplary diverse American fabric. This congressman, who has been portrayed in New American Magazine to have links to the IRA, is responsible for conducting a series of congressional hearings hoping to ostracize American Muslims by portraying radicalization as a phenomenon exclusive to the American Muslim community. This sparked the outrage of not only American Muslims, but also fellow congressmen and congresswomen who deemed the hearings political theatrics.
What really comes as disgraceful news is the New York Post's recent report that Peter King has presidential aspirations! This is certainly troublesome news for those who aspire for cleaner politics and are also wearisome of the widespread GOP base that dreams of a more inclusive Republican Party.
In a more recent scenario, another congressman, Steve King, issued clear-cut racial remarks against our Latino immigrant population. When asked his opinion about those Latinos who were brought to America illegally as minors; also known as "Dreamers" in relation to the Dream Act legislation seeking to legalize their status, King stated: "For everyone who's a valedictorian, there's another 100 out there that weigh 130 pounds and they've got calves the size of cantaloupes because they're hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert."
Needless to say, those countless condemnations have come from the widest political spectrum. Rep. Eric Cantor, the House Majority Leader, expressed that he finds King's "characterization of the children of immigrants and... comments inexcusable," and House Speaker John Boehner openly opined that what Congressman King said is "wrong." Many other Democratic and Independent political leaders, lawmakers, and other elected officials have issued public condemnations of King's bigoted remarks bashing the Hispanic immigrant population.
A stubborn racist politician who, when offered an opportunity to clarify his inflammatory bigoted remarks, simply answered "No. What I said is what I said," has no place in our Congress.
You might have sovereignty over the Dark Kingdom of Hateland Congressman King, but your prejudiced fiefdom is definitely not our great United States of America. You don't belong among our leadership, but instead represent a national and international shame. "Honorable" Congressmen Peter and Steve King, you should seriously consider vindicating the dishonored oath of office you both took and resign your House of Representatives seats to true Americans instead. Please relinquish that honorable chamber of our government to those honorable men and women who welcome the broadest dissimilar range of ideas void of racism, intolerance and bigotry.
