The Law of Attraction is a touchy subject for me. On one hand, I’m so grateful for what it has brought to my life. On the other hand, it drives me crazy when self-promoted “gurus” try to turn it into something that it’s not. The Law of Attraction is clouded in myth, dogma, and the metaphysical. But, it doesn’t have to be that way.

As a pretty hard-core skeptic, I choose to look at it differently. Yes, when you apply the law correctly, it can “seem” like magic is occurring in your life. Things will “seem” to manifest themselves supernaturally, but is that really what’s happening?

Until there’s scientific evidence that proves that our thoughts can actually cause the Universe to “bend to our will,” I’m going to stick with “I simply don’t know why it works.” I just know that it does. The next time someone claims to have scientific evidence that your thoughts “magically” manifest things into reality, you should ask to see their Nobel Prize. They’d certainly have one if they scientifically proved something so profound.

Why You Should Still Apply the Law

That being said, I think you’d have to be crazy NOT to apply The Law of Attraction to your life goals. Why? Because it works. And, it works incredibly well.

Ok, now I’m probably starting to confuse you, so let me explain. The basics of the LOA claim that you should spend time thinking about the things that you want in your life while avoiding thinking about the things that you don’t want. Makes sense, right?

If your focus is on the things that you WANT to have, then you’re more likely to take action towards attaining those goals. While, if you focus on what you don’t want, like your fears, worries, and frustrations, then you’ll subconsciously take action towards that garbage.

Do you remember when you were learning to drive? They’d tell you to look in the direction that you wanted to go. Never look at the thing you’re trying to avoid or you’ll steer right into it. The same goes for inline skating, skiing, and running. At first, that was probably one heck of a challenge. But, over time, after you mastered driving, your subconscious mind naturally focussed on where you wanted to drive.

Why It’s Hasn’t Worked For You Yet

The reason that The Law of Attraction doesn’t work for most people is that they haven’t mastered it yet. They’re still focussing consciously when they should be focussing subconsciously. They’re still looking at that curb that they’re trying to avoid.

Consciously they say, “I want to make more money,” or “I want to lose weight.” Unfortunately, their subconscious mind is happy as a clam to stay right where it is…fat and broke.

Actually, let me back up for a second. I said that the law doesn’t work for most people, but that’s a lie. The Law of Attraction has been at work in everyone’s life from the time that they were able to have coherent thoughts. It’s just that they weren’t aware of it, so it sent them all over the place.

It’s like the 80’s tv show, “The Greatest American Hero.” (And yes, I realize I’m dating myself.) The main character in the show had a superhero costume that gave him all the power in the world, but he lost the instruction manual, so he flew into buildings, trash cans and such. The Law of Attraction is like that. We all have the ability to use it. It’s just that we don’t know how, so we too fly into trash cans and such. Why is it that so many are confused about how to apply the law? Because of books like, “The Secret.” I’m not knocking the book. I actually gained a lot of inspiration from it. But, it was only the tippy-top of the tip of the proverbial iceberg into the mechanics of the law.

Achievement Without Hustle

So what can we do about it? For starters, stop believing that applying the LOA means that you merely ask the Universe for something and then sit on your couch with a bag of potato chips and wait for it to happen. If that worked, we’d have a world filled with 400-pound, millionaire, couch potatoes. Have you seen many of those lately? Thankfully, neither have I. That’s because the LOA requires you to take action. And not just action, I’m talking massive, persistent, action towards achieving your goals. Need proof? Ok, name five millionaires who don’t hustle their buts off to achieve success…I’m waiting…still waiting. Ok, so Paris Hilton, but that’s only one! Just look at the people who are killing it today. People like Tim Ferriss, Gary Vaynerchuk, Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, Ellen Degeneres, etc. Do you see them sitting around “wishing” for the Universe to grant their wishes? Heck no! Every one of them hustles day in and day out to be great.

Getting The Law of Attraction to Work

You might be thinking that the reason you’re interested in The Law of Attraction in the first place is so you don’t HAVE to hustle. Well, have you ever heard, “If it’s too good to be true then it probably is?” Boom…now read on.

I’m about to give you three simple strategies that will inspire you to take massive action. They will motivate you to hustle towards the achievement of your goals without being a crybaby.

First, let me explain how it works. If you currently don’t wake up in the morning, ecstatic to start achieving, then you have one simple problem. Your conscious and subconscious minds are not congruent. Read that last sentence again because it’s critical.

While your conscious mind decides what you want and sets your goals, it’s your subconscious mind that determines if those goals are acceptable or not. Think of it like trying to persuade your significant other to completely change his or her annoying habits. Not an easy task.

Luckily, there are some shortcuts that we can take to influence our subconscious minds faster.

Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind

I know that you might read this and think, “That stuff is silly. It can’t possibly work for me.” That’s what I used to think too. But, just give it a try. The only thing you have to lose is not achieving any of your goals, dreams, or desires. Try it for a week and then send me an email on your results, or post a comment below. I’m confident that you’ll be blown away, my friend.

Visualization:

Visualize the things and events that you want to have in your life. You can do this with money, relationships, travel, health, etc. See the results in your mind as though you already have them. It’s important to visualize in the positive. Don’t think about what you don’t want. If you want to lose weight, for example, focus on what you will look, and feel like, having achieved your ideal weight. When visualizing, try to imagine every sensory detail to make it as real as possible. See the sights, smells the smells, feel the items, hears the sounds, etc.

Affirmations:

Write a list of positive affirmations that coincide with your goal. Again, state these in the positive. If affirming wealth, you wouldn’t want to say, “I have no debt.” That focusses on DEBT! Instead, you might say, “I have an abundance of wealth.”

Then, carry this list in your pocket or write it as a note on your cell phone. Read them several times a day. Too busy you say? Read them when you’re on the toilet. Now you have no excuse.

I like to memorize a few of them and say them over and over, to music, while working out. It sounds silly, but it completely focusses my mind. Whatever song comes on the radio, I adjust my affirmation to the beat of the music.

Self-Hypnosis:

Hypnosis is the fastest, and most powerful way, to reprogram your subconscious mind. And remember, your subconscious mind is what makes The Law of Attraction work.
