Last night was the world premiere of Milk at the Castro Theatre! For those who don't know, that's the new Gus Van Sant film about Harvey Milk, starring Sean Penn in the title role.

I didn't have one of the $50 tickets to walk down the red carpet and be one of the first to see the movie. But I was out in the streets talking to people about Harvey Milk's legacy.

The Legacy of Harvey Milk from Castro in the Streets

The SF Gay Men's Chorus and the Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club both trace their roots back to this guy. And with such an important election coming up next week, this is a great time to talk about Harvey Milk's transformational message and politics.

This video features all kinds of people: random fans, extras in the film, two Presidents of the Harvey Milk Club, queer activists, and a wide assortment of SF politics -- including soon-to-be Senator Mark Leno & Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, Mayor Gavin Newsom, Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi, Peace Mom/Congressional candidate Cindy Sheehan, CodePink co-founder Medea Benjamin, and...ok, you get the idea!

So check out the video...and get out and vote!
