The so-called liberal press, including MSNBC, keeps talking about how this is all about angry, anxious independents feeling government is getting too big. I will say now what I said last November: ignore the base and the base will ignore you. This is about uninspired progressive Democrats not bothering to vote. What is the point? We elected Obama, gave him sixty senators, and we got the Lieberman/Nelson bill. Wall Street got even richer, we got even poorer.

Today's election results in Massachusetts were much more about the 60% of registered voters who stayed home in a vacuum of inspiration and leadership than about the pundits' analysis of those who came out.

Now the media is pushing for a self-fulfilled prophecy of Democrats running scared through the center to the right. The progressive promise is dead on arrival, abandoned, and still untested. The government for the people, never to be.
