'The Middle': Sue Never Saw This Secret Crush Coming, Or His Perspective Of Her

'The Middle': Sue's Crush Thinks Her Family Is Rich?!

On "The Middle," Sue learned something about perspective. The Hecks have long been considered one of the lower among the middle class families of Orson, Indiana. And Sue is the long-suffering middle child, ignored and forgotten by virtually everyone who's ever met her -- including her teachers. And yet, to the Glossners, the Hecks are something else entirely.

When Sue and Brick were left home alone, they were horrified when the Glossner children showed up. This family has been established as the worst possible neighbors, with junk all over their yard and children who terrorize the neighborhood. This week, there was a surprising daughter thrown in the mix, but it was Derrick -- the eldest of the children -- who surprised Sue.

Trying a new tactic to get the Glossners out of their house, Sue simply asked them to leave. And they did. Derrick explained that he listened because he kind of liked her. "It doesn't matter," he said. "I mean, look at ya. You're a rich girl -- with your above-ground pool, your two kinds of chips, and your one dad? Forget it. You're way out of my league."

It was such a mind-blowing statement for Sue that she coudn't respond, even when he darted back in for a quick kiss. Derrick just presented Sue with a perspective on her family that she would have probably never seen herself.

"The Middle" airs every Wednesday at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
