Is Mindy Kaling overwhelmed by the idea of creating and starring in her new series "The Mindy Project"?
Her longtime friend and former "Office" co-star doesn't seem to think so.
“I’ve never seen her more calm and confident,” Novak said in an interview with New York Magazine. “This is her element. I think it was honestly more stressful and anxious for her to be on 'The Office' not doing her own show.”
Kaling has certainly seen her fair share of stress when it comes to "The Office." In an interview with HitFix, the writer/actress opened up about the first time she wrote a script for the NBC series.
"I was terrified. The script was 40 pages long," Kaling said. "[Writers] Mike Schur and BJ Novak turned in lean 32 page drafts that were tight with jokes. I had to learn how to use Final Draft. It was like Podunk They were just super intimidating. They were not the kind of guys that you would necessarily want to be like, 'Hey, can you help me format this?' You wouldn't want to do that."
"The Mindy Project" series premiere airs on Tues., Sept. 25 at 9:30 p.m. ET and "The Office" returns for its final season its final season on Thurs., Sept. 20 at 9 p.m. ET
