This is the first of series of stories from a new partnership between The Huffington Post and The Moth, which is a national non-profit organization dedicated to the art and craft of storytelling. It started on a porch in Georgia. Then it took over New York City. Then Los Angeles and Chicago.
And now finally, the famed storytelling juggernaut the Moth is in San Francisco with a brand new series.
As of last month, the Moth is a permanent monthly fixture at San Francisco's Rickshaw Stop. And it's popular. (The inaugural event sold out in eight minutes. The second, in less than ten hours.)
The Moth has housed storytellers including Andy Borowitz, Malcolm Gladwell and Margaret Cho, but the San Francisco edition is part of the group's StorySLAM series -- an organic open mic competition that features a randomly selected group of audience volunteers.
But though the majority of storytellers may not be famous, they are fabulous. Just check out Corey Rosen, who learned his cousin's secrets through a postmortem cleaning of his apartment, in the clip below from the inaugural performance.
