The National's Hunger Games Track Title Was Too Dark For The Movie

The National submitted a song for the "Hunger Games: Catching Fire" soundtrack with the title "Dying Is Easy," but the folks behind the sure-to-be massive sequel felt the name was too grim. The song name has since been changed to "Lean."

"The song almost didn't make it because it was too dark for the 'Hunger Games' soundtrack, which I thought was sort of funny because it's about killing kids," singer Matt Berninger told NME. "I don’t know how a song can be darker than that? So we had to change the name of the song; I actually like the name 'Lean.'"

Coldplay recently released "Atlas," the song the band recorded for "Catching Fire."

The soundtrack for the first installment of the popular series included contributions from Taylor Swift, Arcade Fire, Kid Cudi, The Decemberists, Maroon 5 and Miranda Lambert.

Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and Lenny Kravitz all star in the sequel. The "Catching Fire" trailer debuted at Comic-Con earlier this year.
