The NBA's Oldest Dance Crew Can Definitely Turn Up The Heat

You've never seen cheerleaders quite like this before.

They mesmerize and pump up thousands of fans at American Airlines Arena in Miami with their bold dance moves. No, we aren’t talking about the Miami Heat’s dance crew of young cheerleaders, we’re talking about the Golden Oldies.

They’re the first senior citizen dance team in the NBA and they’re all over the age of 60. Oh ― and the fans absolutely love them. (They’ve even impressed some Sports Illustrated models with their moves!)

The team held tryouts this week for the upcoming season’s crew and besides being of a certain age, the only requirement was to be “willing to bust a move and entertain Heat fans at home,” the dance team’s manager, Shara Kiddy, told 7News Miami.

The young-at-heart applicants first had to show off their personality with a freestyle dance round and if they impressed the judges, they had to pass a choreographed dance session to make the cut.

The seniors say dancing “keeps them young” and the energy inside the packed sports arena doesn’t hurt either.

We can’t wait to see them shake and shimmy in the upcoming season.
