The New York Wheel Is The Most Incredibly Epic Way To See A City

This is wheelie exciting.

Construction will start this week on the New York Wheel, a stunning Ferris wheel angled to become the tallest in the United States, if not the world.

At 630 feet and about 60 stories tall, the spinning stunner will be nearly 200 feet taller than the London Eye. This beauty may not be the world's tallest for long, though, as Dubai started construction on its own wheel last week.

In any case, a wild 38-minute ride awaits, with striking views of the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty and the Harbor that will make even a longtime city dweller's head spin.

Welcome to the new New York.

The New York Wheel will be situated on Staten Island, whose free ferry service is famed for having views of the Statue of Liberty. When finished in early 2017, the New York Wheel zone will also boast a concert venue, beer garden, playground and food and drink spots.

Each of the wheel's glistening glass pods will accommodate 40 visitors, spinning 'round till midnight on most days and until 2 a.m. on special occasions.

If this is the future of travel, then we're MORE than ready.
