Question: WHY do you do what you do?

Who you are is made up of hundreds of tiny little decisions. Your business is made up of hundreds of tiny little decisions. All day long you make small yet important choices. Choices that impact who you are, what you stand for, and how you in turn impact the world around you.

Why do you choose the choice you choose?

It's 6:30 a.m. Your alarm goes off. You bounce out of bed inspired and motivated to start your day!

Why?

It's 8 p.m. Your inbox has 100-plus emails unread. You glance at the time and you mentally block out another half an hour and plod on.

Why?

It's the weekend and the sun is shining. You can smell BBQ and hear the sounds of laughter and good times, but you pick up the phone and make a work call.

Why?

It's a Tuesday morning and you've walked your kids to school and now you're on your way to a yoga class. Your phone rings -- it's a client. Do you answer it?

Why?

If you don't know why you do what you do, at some point you won't care anymore. If you don't care anymore then what is the point.

If there is no point, then what?

When you are your own boss it is especially important to know why you do what you do. The extra hours, the required discipline, the things you miss out on, the freedom, the adventure, the duty.

What have Martin Luther King, Steve Jobs and Richard Branson got in common?

They all started with their "WHY". Simon Sinek in his book, Start With The Why (which I highly recommend by the way), says that is not the "what" that motivates us to jump out of bed in the mornings, it is the "why." It is not the "what" that drives us to give great service and become expert in our field, it is the "why."

According to Tony Robbins, we have six human needs, and it is our drive to meet them that motivates our behavior. That said the reason that you do what you do, will be a unique blend of these.

Everything you do is to meet one your own combination of those needs.

Awareness is the first step to living a fulfilled and successful life. Knowing your WHY is an integral part of that. When you have that awareness you can begin to make empowering discerning choices.

When you know why, you are effortlessly motivated and inspired. You take inspired action, you have energy and passion, you care and enjoy what you do, you can say yes, and say no with confidence and feel a sense of fulfilment and worth.

Isn't that what we all want to feel at the end of the day?

Why are you an Entrepreneur?

Why do you do what you do?

I'd love for you to share your why in the comments.
