I owe my readers a debt of gratitude, as I continue to receive emails about my column involving female entrepreneurs.

As I make clear in that article, and as I do so again in this space, I think we need more of these enterprising women.

Our economy depends on their knowledge.

The future of our country rests on our respect for their contributions.

The world of business requires their intelligence and wisdom.

We should be so fortunate to have leaders of this caliber, pioneers of such character and innovators of such courage.

I return, then, to Whitney Linscott: Founder and CEO of Bracket Dating, LLC, a bracket-based online dating portal.

I highlight Miss Linscott’s accomplishments – I admire her resolve – because she is the very embodiment of an innovator: Someone who takes an existing category, saturated and competitive though it may be, and transforms it; revolutionizes it, thanks to the sort of innovative idea that is so simple yet so much fun – she makes online dating more interactive by making it more like a game than a chore; more like a contest than a cheap contrivance.

“My background is in banking and commercial lending, which is very analytical. As an entrepreneur, I have the opportunity to apply that knowledge in a creative way that transcends the world of finance. I have the chance to infuse dating – to redefine modern courtship – with the enthusiasm typical of a national pastime and the power of new technology.

“That is a good description of entrepreneurship, because it is one I understand and seek to fulfill. I encourage others to do likewise.”

I say, “Amen,” because I do not want us to squander the talents of female entrepreneurs.

We need their help, now more than ever.
