Our Founding Fathers were genius with words.

"When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.


We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness ...."

These are the words that laid the foundation for America to be the greatest country in the modern world. Ours is a country of leaders, pioneers, and entrepreneurs blazing a trail for the entire world to benefit from. It is my belief that these words were the reason for the success of this country, a manifestation by proclamation if you will.

Words are singularly the most powerful force available to humanity. We can choose to use this force constructively with words of encouragement, or destructively using words of despair. Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate and to humble.

What sets us apart from the animal kingdom is the use of symbolic language. Our ability to put our thoughts into words that symbolize objects allows us to communicate beyond the means of simple vocalization. Many can argue that it is our power of intelligence that is the key to the human domination of our planet. I suggest that it is the ability to put our thoughts into words that can be communicated to others.

Our words have the power to change destinies, both our own and that of others. Often we throw around words in jest or perhaps in anger that harm and hurt and create long lasting damage. If we understood the seriousness of what we were saying we might never say it. Words have power and they have energy that we put out there into the minds, and thoughts of our children, our friends, our mates and our peers. If we are in a position of leadership where our words create policies we have to be sensitive and diligent. If we were handling a bomb which could go off at any minute as a result of our actions, we would mind ourselves and be delicate. Our words have the same power yet we wield them around as though they were powerless and insignificant.

The key is awareness, once we have the awareness that our words are what sets us apart from the animal kingdom, we might consider using them with greater consciousness and awareness. And if you don't think that words have power ask a child who has been told that he is nothing all his life, or a population that is reminded by its leaders that they are victims.

By the way leaders word policies, they can substantially impact the lives of their people for generations. Often times rhetoric is used as a weapon that creates chasms amongst people. It is not our sexual preferences, the color of our skin, the language we speak, nor the religion we practice that creates friction, hatred and wars amongst in society. It is our words and the words of our leaders that can create that disparity. As humans, we are given the gift of having moral compasses. If we think about it we know the words that have a positive effect and the words that have the power of destruction. Let's use this navigation tool to share our thoughts so as to affect our societies positively.

In the United States the words of our forefathers gave us the opportunity to build one of the most compassionate albeit criticized countries in the world. I believe that it was the words of our founding fathers that liberated us from persecution, oppression, and subjugation. 'Unalienable rights, liberty, pursuit of happiness'. These are words of empowerment. Words that allow us to live our lives beyond judgment and reproach, words that encourage people to live their lives with dignity and pride.

Each and every one of us has the ability to transform our lives and the lives around us by choosing to utter the words of encouragement. Whether you consider yourselves neo-thinkers, sages, scholars, intellects, theorists, philosophers, paradigm shifters, or just ordinary citizens, help the world around you by empowering people to share courage with others. It is not enough to directly influence the people in your immediate circle. Voice your opinion. Empower those around you to empower those around them to challenge repression.

It is my hope that the work I do empowers those that I influence to use the their power of words and action for the betterment of their environment and society at large. If I directly influence one million people around me in a positive manner, it wouldn't have the net effect of empowering two people who can in turn empower another two people and so on and so forth. If my words have helped you in any manner, or improved your predicament or situation ever so slightly, don't thank me. That just nourishes the ego in which I have no use for. Show me your appreciation by helping others, and even more important, empowering them by encouraging to help others around them. This is the ultimate power of sharing that I hope to inspire amongst all my readers.
